Hello there,

I'm interested in Android and the fragmentation of devices and software of this platform. Recently I found the Android Fragmentation Project while doing research for my bachelor thesis and was pretty impressed that there is an project trying to put fragmentation into numbers. The open database is a good approach, but sadly I can't see any advances on androidfragmentation.com.

Is this project still alive? What about further developments of the database and the interfaces? If possible, I'd like to contribute to this project. I'm an ICT student with focus on mobile development, especially Android development. My bachelor thesis was about the fragmentation problem and included references to the Android Fragmentation Project. I'd like to see this project evolve and become even more important in terms of documenting the fragmentation problem.

"This is a distress call! Anyone here?"

Best regards,

David

David,

Thank you very much for your interest! It's good to see that our database brings value to many people.

As you may know, the client-side part - the Android Analyzer app - is open source and anyone can contribute to its development, so feel free to join :)

As far as the backend (DB) goes, it is closed source and we have put it on hold over the last half year or so, due to other high prio activities. It you are interested in giving us a hand I could bring this up internally and discuss if/how this would be possible. The technical prerequisites are Java, Wicket and Hibernate. Please let me know...

May I also ask where your current location is (EU, US, ...)?

Best,

Sinisha Djukic
